"No estaba muerta, andaba de parranda."
Así es. A pesar de que he estado desaparecida hace varios meses no significa que mis ganas de pintar se hayan acabado. Más que de parranda, he estado sufriendo aquello que algunos llaman "creative-block", es decir, últimamente no he tenido muchas ganas de pintar (cero inspiración). Pero llegaron las vacaciones junto con el tiempo libre, así que he decidido retomar el pincel y el computador y hacer algunos experimentos con GIFs.

Esta ilustración está inspirada en la última colección de Dolce & Gabbana, que la verdad es que ya no es tan reciente (Verano 2015), y que está inspirada en los cuentos de hada (tratando de hacer el enganche con la mega popular Games of Thrones). No me puedo quejar, esta colección tiene (casi) todo lo que me gusta: brillos, pedrería, transparencias, vestidos de princesas esperando ser rescatadas... Me gusta mucho pero debo admitir que a estar alturas me gustaría ver algo distinto en Dolce & Gabbana, creo que ya le sacaron todo el jugo posible al encaje negro y las coronas de princesa.
Pero lo que si me fascinó de está colección fueron las capuchas inspiradas en los caballeros medievales, los guantes con pedrería y las ballerinas. Increíbles.

"She wasn't dead, she was partying!"
That's correct. Although I've been missing from some months ago doesn't mean that my passion for painting is gone. More that partying, I've been suffering a creative-block.  But holidays have arrived together with free time, so I've decided to pick up my brush and my computer and make some GIF experiments.

This illustration is inspired on the last Dolce & Gabbana's collection, that actually isn't so recent (Summer 2015), which is inspired on fairy tales (following the line of the trendy Games of Thrones). I cannot complain, this collection has (almost) everything I could wish for: glitter, stones, transparencies, dresses for princesses that are awaiting to be rescued... I really love it but I must admit that I wish to see something different from Dolce & Gabbana, I think they already exploited to the maximum level black lace and princesses crowns.
But what I absolutely loved of this collection where the middle age knight hoods, embellished gloves and ballerinas. Amazing.

A little hurricane roar

Hoy quise retomar un material con el cual trabajé durante un curso de acuarela en la universidad: el papel camisa. Una de sus propiedades es que absorve rápidamente la humedad y se seca al instante, por lo que al pintar con acuarela da un efecto de superposición de manchas (este mismo resultado se puede obtener si se pinta con un papel hilado). Otra de las cosas que me gusta del papel camisa es su color amarillento, otorgándole a las pinturas un efecto vintage, como si se tratase de un papel antiguo. El único inconveniente es que es demasiado delgado, por lo que se arruga fácilmente con el agua.

En esta ocasión quise retratar nuevamente a la súper modelo Gemma Ward, porque he quedado totalmente encantada con la forma de su boca. Mientras más la observaba me daba cuenta que me recordaba a alguien, pero no sabía a quién. El asunto se aclaró cuando por casualidad llegué a un video de Piratas del Caribe, específicamente a la escena de la Canción de la Sirena, donde la sirena era nada más y nada menos que la mismísima Gemma Ward, y entre los comentarios de los usuarios de Youtube se repetía la idea de que Gemma Ward era una versión mejorada de Amanda Seyfried (otra de mis obsesiones). Por mi parte no comparto las opiniones de dichos usuarios, pues creo que cada una de estas jóvenes tiene rasgos hermosos. Lo que sí tienen en común son unos ojos ligeramente separados y unos labios un tanto abultados, pero a mi parecer la boca de Gemma Ward es bastante más llamativa que la de Amanda. Pero como he visto actuar a Amanda en varias películas me siento más identificada con ella que con Gemma. En fin, para qué escoger a una si puedo inspirarme en las dos.

Today I wanted to work with a material that I used during University in a watercolor course: the stocklot paper. One of its properties is that it quickly absorbs humidity and dries instantly, so when you paint with watercolor it gives an overlapping stains effect (the same result can be obtained if painted with bond paper). Another thing that I like about this paper is its yellow tone, giving the paintings a vintage-old paper effect. The only inconvenient is that it's too thin, so it easily wrinkles with water.

In this opportunity I wanted to portray, for the second time, supermodel Gemma Ward, because I'm totally charmed with the shape of her mouth. The more I watched her I realized that she reminded me of someone, but couldn't remember who. The issue was clarified when by chance I stumbled into a video of Pirates of the Caribbean, specifically the Mermaid Song scene, where the siren was no one else but Gemma Ward herself, and among the comments of YouTube users the idea that the young supermodel was an improved version of Amanda Seyfried (another of my obsessions) was repeated several times. From my side I do not share the opinion of those users, because I believe that each of these girls have beautiful features. In my opinion, what they have in common is the shape of the eyes and slightly bulky lips, but I think Gemma Ward's mouth is far more striking than Amanda's. But as I've seen Amanda acting in several films I feel more identified with her rather than with Gemma. Well, why should I choose if I can be inspired by both.

Esta fantástica súper modelo con cara de muñeca se llama Gemma Ward, es australiana y a la edad de 16 se convirtió en la modelo más joven en aparecer en la portada de la edición americana de Vogue. Ha desfilado en la pasarela para McQueen, Versace, Gucci, Chanel y Valentino, entre otros.*
Lo que más me gusta de sus rasgos es la forma caída de su boca y la expresión somnolienta de sus ojos.



This fantastic doll faced supermodel  is called Gemma Ward, she is australian and at the age of 16 she became in the youngest model to appear on the cover of  Vogue US. She has been on the runway wearing McQueen, Versace, Gucci, Chanel and Valentino, among others.*
What I like the most about her features is the droopy shape of her mouth and the sleepy expression of her eyes.
