I recently started watching the prequel of Sex and the City, The Carrie Diaries. While the plot doesn't seem really attractive, what seems to be very promissing is the costume design.
The dress on this illustration is the one wore by Carrie Bradshaw on episode 1.
I have read some reviews saying that the show isn't faithful to the 80's style, and that there are some incongruences between the Sex and the City plot and the Carrie Diaries one. Even someone commented that if there is no relation between the original show and the new one, why they didn't just make a new show from zero, giving it a different name?
I never saw the complete Sex and the City series, so of course I'm not capable to recognize if there are some incongruences. But I personally think that, at least from the fashion point of view, it was totally necessary that they adapted the 80's style to today's style, for a "commercial" reason.
I like this new, renovated 80's style, but I don't feel really attracted to the original one. I guess many of the viewers of the TV show may agree.
